While newly proposed post-quantum signature scheme "SHRINCS" has significant functionality tradeoffs compared with other PQ schemes, it inarguably offers the most conservative cryptographic assumptions (the assumptions of SHA-256). SHRINCS co-author @conduition_io argues that having a hash-based signature scheme available in Bitcoin creates a safety net that we can use with other more "functional" schemes later on down the line.
