Is the debasement of the dollar is deliberate? @rodpalmerhodl and @GMONEYPEPE argue both sides in our recent podcast. But both of them might be answering the wrong question. Rome didn't clip the denarius out of malice. Every government that has ever debased its money did it because the alternative that particular week looked worse, and every single one believed it would stop before the damage was real. The Canadian trucker accounts were not frozen by a villain either. They were frozen by an ordinary administrative process that had always been able to do it, sitting there unused, until somebody finally had a reason. A capability does not need bad intentions. It only needs a bad week. This is the part that gets missed about Bitcoin. The claim was never that its custodians are more trustworthy than yours. The claim is that it finally gives you a way to avoid the custodians all together! Keep your bitcoin somewhere an official trying to fix a bad week cannot reach.
