This person is happy because he is not burdened by needing to know what is true. Scientists do not look at unresolved questions and congratulate themselves for enjoying the mystery. They are skeptical discontents who obsess over finding the truth. When they establish one truth, they get bored or uneasy and move on to the next thing they find unsettling. Biology has produced hundreds of thousands of papers claiming to solve major aspects of health and disease. Either biology is nearly finished, or a vast number of those claims are wrong. The latter is obviously true. I got into biology even though I was not originally formally trained in it because I thought it was a great repository of important unresolved problems. I learned, however, that progress is buried beneath an enormous amount of junk that fits a nice narrative. The field will not advance until it reckons with that record and clearly separates what is true, what is merely proposed, and what remains unknown.
