🇺🇸 The pre-Trump Republican establishment is quietly organizing against JD Vance, and the knives are coming out EARLY... Romney, Ryan (the 2012 GOP ticket), and a network of Never-Trump donors and operatives are laying the groundwork to recruit and fund a primary challenger to Vance in 2028. Former governors Larry Hogan and Glenn Youngkin are the two names being circulated most seriously. Since Trump will be constitutionally barred from running again, they see the MAGA base as "up for grabs," and are looking for a credible, establishment alternative. Only problem is, the last time the GOP establishment tried this, in 2016, 17 credentialed candidates were unable to stop a Manhattan real estate developer with no real political experience. Vance is NOT Trump (which honestly may be a good thing), but he is NOT the person Romney and Ryan are used to beating either. The pre-Trump GOP has been trying to reclaim its party for 9 years. It hasn't worked yet... and I doubt it ever will again. Source: Axios / Writer: Michael
