A fresh regulatory battle could have major implications for Bitcoin derivatives. The SEC has put Nasdaq’s QBTC Bitcoin options approval on hold after a legal challenge from CME Group. CME argues that since Bitcoin is classified as a commodity, options based on its price should be regulated by the CFTC, not the SEC.
