Watching the reaction to the Coldcard situation has been revealing. Some admitted they were naive and that they were paid to promote the wallet. Some went silent. Some turned a vendor failure into “collective responsibility.” Some will defend NVK at any cost. Others attack the people raising the alarm, as if criticism were the real problem. Different reactions, but mostly the same instinct: protect the narrative they invested in. I hope this becomes a lasting lesson about who we choose to trust blindly, especially when security claims are involved. And above all, my heart goes out to those who lost generational savings. Whatever the arguments and tribalism around this, what happened to them is genuinely tragic.
