ColdCard wallets were drained for a total of 540 Bitcoin, starting from the seed phrases. Reason: The wallet generated random seed phrases, but hackers were able to reverse-engineer the random algorithm used to create those seed phrases, allowing them to recreate the same seed phrases. Best practices state: You should generate your own 12 or 24 words using anything—dice rolls, random lottery numbers, dates, names, or combinations thereof. This way, your key is not generated by any algorithm (which might follow a programmed pattern, etc.).
