Self-custody is one of Bitcoin’s foundational value propositions. Without it, Bitcoin never would have achieved the value it has today. ETFs exist because Bitcoin first proved the value of sovereign ownership. Every bitcoin moved from self-custody to a custodian weakens the very value proposition that made Bitcoin valuable in the first place. Is self-custody for everyone? No. But should it be encouraged for anyone capable of handling a modicum of responsibility? Absolutely.
