Most financial decisions either move you towards owning equity in something or away from it. Buying a home can put you into equity. Renting and investing the gap can put you into equity. Neither one wins by default. What matters is which path gets more of the capital you actually have into ownership that compounds, and gets there sooner. House versus stocks is the wrong thing to be arguing about. The real variable is how fast a path moves your capital into ownership, measured against what you have to work with.
