Commentary on my decision from 18th of July: When I said that I’m taking profits on my Bitcoin shorts from 120k, but keeping the shorts on the Stocks open, it caused a lot of confusion: Many have asked why I am buying BTC and ETH if I still expect a broader market crash My answer is simple: the correction is already happening but mainly in the AI sector. Many AI stocks have fallen sharply, while BTC has remained stable within its range and ETH has shown remarkable resilience. Even the impact of the S&P 500 on BTC has been relatively limited so far. It is still too early to draw final conclusions, but this is an encouraging sign that my original thesis might be correct: instead of a major wipeout in BTC and ETH, we could be seeing the real correction concentrated in AI stocks, while the S&P 500 remains heavily influenced by those same technology names. This is something that needs to be monitored very closely over the coming weeks. Looking back at my decision on 18 July, I believe it was the right move. I closed all crypto shorts, secured the profits, started accumulating BTC and ETH through DCA, and kept my bearish shorts towards stock market open instead. So far, the results speak for themselves. Some of my short positions include MicroStrategy (-64.8%), Coinbase (-51.8%), SanDisk (-49.4%), Palantir (-40.6%), Netflix (-34.3%), IBM (-32.2%), Microsoft (-28.2%), and NVIDIA (-8.6%) from my short entries, resulting in a very big profit till this moment, while Apple (+26.2%) and SP500 (+4%) been one of the few positions currently moving against me. For the avoidance of doubt, there are plans to close the CoinBase short entirely in the coming weeks as I have invested in that stock last week. The short runs as hedge at the moment and is being closed slowly and full profit taking on the short will be in the coming weeks. Overall, I couldn’t be happier with how the stock shorts have developed so far, while BTC and ETH have remained far more resilient than many expected.
