🚨 SAYLOR WROTE THE PHILOSOPHICAL FOUNDATION OF DIGITAL CREDIT IN 2012 🚨 “Credit multiplies wealth.” “The Bureau of Engraving and Printing seems to be creating wealth when it prints money, but credit does a far better job of it. So that which expands credit enriches the world.” Michael Saylor, The Mobile Wave, 2012, page 108. Fourteen years later, Saylor completed the thought: “Bitcoin is digital capital. Digital credit is how that capital connects to the broader financial system.” - Michael Saylor, “Bitcoin Evolves by Not Changing,” July 5, 2026. These are not two disconnected observations. They are the same thesis separated by the discovery of Bitcoin. Credit multiplies the economic usefulness of capital by dividing risk, duration, volatility and yield into instruments suited to different investors. But the legacy credit system rests upon monetary capital that can itself be manufactured, diluted and politically manipulated. Bitcoin changes the foundation. The 21 million Bitcoin are never multiplied. Their financial utility is. BTC provides scarce digital capital. MSTR functions as the junior equity layer that absorbs volatility and captures residual upside. STRC-style digital credit sits above that equity cushion, transforming a portion of Bitcoin’s raw volatility into income for investors who want yield instead of maximum convexity. An insurer may want income. A retiree may want yield. A corporation may want stability. An equity investor may want amplified upside. They do not all want the same instrument, but the same Bitcoin foundation can support all of them. That is the philosophical breakthrough. Digital credit creates additional economic interfaces through which the world can use Bitcoin. More mandates become addressable, and that means more capital can enter the structure. The Bitcoin reserve can grow. The expanding reserve increases the capacity of the credit machine. Saylor realized that money, capital and credit were all becoming software, then turned Strategy into the company writing those financial applications on top of Bitcoin.
