‼️South Korean market volatility is UNPRECEDENTED: South Korea's stock market has been the most volatile in the world so far in 2026, with return volatility reaching ~61%. This measures how much daily returns swing away from their average, capturing how wild the ride has been, not whether stocks went up or down. This is even above Bitcoin's 50%, as well as every other market tracked, including Pakistan's ~36%, Argentina's ~33%, and Japan's ~32%. As a result, Korea Exchange has triggered its circuit breaker, which temporarily halts trading to prevent flash crashes and panic selling, 8 TIMES this year. This is already more than half of the 14 total triggered since 2000 and a record for any single year, versus zero times in 2025 and just once in 2024. Much of this volatility has been triggered by Samsung and SK Hynix, as their combined weight rose at some point to more than 60% of the KOSPI, effectively turning the index into a concentrated bet on AI. This has been compounded by leveraged ETFs, with these products and their 2 underlying stocks now accounting for more than 70% of daily traded value in the $4 trillion market. This is an absolutely CRAZY MARKET.
