To understand why this happened, follow the money. Many of the same entities funding Core are also funding initiatives that would be hindered by BIP110. A lot of money is behind BIP110 FUD. It started with Wences Casares in 2013. It doesn’t take too much research to connect the dots up to present day. Not saying everything is nefarious, but much of it is.
