Seeing the notice that @protocol_fx’s fxUSD Agentic Vault is being sunset, many users’ first reaction may be: “The vault won’t accept new deposits anymore—should I withdraw my funds right away?” But here’s the most common point of confusion. On July 14, 9Summits announced that the fxUSD Agentic Vault on Base would stop accepting new deposits, while also reminding users who have borrowed fxUSD on markets like VVV, cbBTC, wstETH, and VIRTUAL to repay their loans as soon as possible. What I understand is: this isn’t fxUSD withdrawing from Morpho, nor is it an issue with f(x) Protocol itself—it’s simply a specific vault curated by 9Summits entering its wind-down phase, and the exit timelines for borrowers and depositors naturally differ. Many encountering this for the first time assume that stopping deposits means everyone must withdraw immediately. But in Morpho’s structure, funds aren’t just sitting idle. 9Summits curates the vault, Morpho manages the underlying lending markets, and fxUSD is the asset used for borrowing within those markets. Currently, the vault’s TVL stands at approximately $379,000, and utilization in the VVV/FXUSD market has reached 99.78%. With new deposits blocked, if borrowers don’t repay promptly, liquidity constraints could push borrowing costs even higher. That’s why borrowers are being prioritized: only when they return their fxUSD can those funds re-enter the system and help complete the vault’s de-allocation and wind-down process. Depositors aren’t losing their money—they simply need to wait because their liquidity is already deployed into the underlying market and must be released first. This is one of the key differences between DeFi and traditional finance: exiting isn’t always as simple as clicking a button. Your funds may be locked at a specific stage in the chain, and you must wait for upstream processes to complete. If you’ve participated in similar vaults before and received a sunsetting notice, don’t rush to guess market movements. First, ask yourself: Am I a borrower or a depositor? Where exactly is my money currently allocated? Which step must complete before I can exit? The exact closure timeline, outstanding loan amounts, and withdrawal proportions are still pending official updates. Many risks in DeFi aren’t due to overly complex rules—they’re caused by users not knowing which end of the capital flow they’re on. When you see a vault sunsetting notice: do you check the official announcement first—or do you open your wallet to see where your funds actually are?
