DingTalk under Alibaba has changed leadership after the "little essay" incident. I’ve used several of Alibaba’s products: Qoder, Qwen, and DingTalk Wukong. Even if this leadership change isn’t perfect, it can’t possibly make DingTalk worse than it already was. Alibaba’s other AI product lines have never been weak—the real problem is never letting old-school managers run things. The veterans who grew up with Alibaba’s platform truly have major issues; this is precisely what people have long criticized as “Alibaba flavor” or “old-school manager flavor.” The old internet-era playbook simply doesn’t work for AI-native products. ByteDance’s teams are led by proven super-individuals with prior success. After Tencent brought in Yao Shunyu, their product and model capabilities have visibly caught up. My experience with Alibaba’s product lines: DingTalk’s product line is undoubtedly the most baffling. When they claimed it was designed for solo entrepreneurs, you still needed an invite code just to join the beta. I recently downloaded and tried it—completely clueless about who this product is actually for. Without internal articles surfacing, no one could imagine the chaos that must have taken place inside. It feels more like a toy for bosses than a real productivity tool. Qoder’s product line—QoderWork and Qoder—iterates extremely fast and is genuinely user-friendly. I get 200 daily credits for Qwen 3.7 Max. It’s effectively China’s answer to Codex and Claude Cowork; there’s no longer any doubt about its competitiveness. In China, once the direction is right, execution is our greatest strength. Claude Code’s iteration speed pales in comparison to Chinese products that update multiple times per week. As for Qwen, no explanation is needed—the original lead came from KuaiXiang and had a track record of success. The browser format wasn’t sufficiently AI-native, but Qwen offers far greater potential to fully leverage Qwen’s capabilities. Now, with integrations into food delivery, e-commerce, and more, it’s fulfilling Alibaba’s vision of becoming its next super app.
