Is there an environment that could trigger a global crisis? Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan made striking remarks on current developments. Brian Moynihan: "Most of the recent layoffs stem from open positions, attrition, and similar factors. These are not large-scale job cuts affecting overall employment numbers. Regarding gasoline spending: when we break it down by low-, middle-, and high-income households, we see that the impact on low-income households is twice as significant as on middle- and high-income groups. People are visiting gas stations more frequently but are more carefully rationalizing their $40 expenditures. They are going to cheaper gas stations and increasingly turning to large supermarket chains and secondhand stores. All of this is part of what I call the K economy, but the reality is that incomes are rising across all income segments. Affordability is a real issue, but the fundamental solution is building more housing—to ease supply pressure and bring prices down. Gasoline prices above $4.50 are not unprecedented; these prices remain accessible, but they are certainly not pleasant. I acknowledge that they are unpleasant!"
