Turkey’s Trade Balance According to preliminary data from the Ministry of Trade, Turkey’s trade deficit narrowed to $5.6 billion in May 2026 from $6.6 billion in the same month of the previous year. This marks the smallest trade deficit since August of last year, as exports declined less than imports. Exports fell 9.3% year-over-year to $22.5 billion, due to lower shipments of raw materials (-4.2%), consumer goods (-18.8%), and capital goods (-18.7%).
