It's quite surprising that privacy didn't get much recognition until October last year, but I think the reason for that is also why we'll see more moments where suddenly everyone wants a feature they ignored until now. One of the main reasons for the shift is that it took certain technical innovations to make privacy work with good UX. For a long time, the trade-off between privacy and UX made people feel like privacy simply wasn't practical at all. But it is.
