Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) are a serious privacy solution and most people have no idea they exist. Intel and other chip manufacturers embed a quarantined zone into their chips: "A trusted execution environment, which is a kind of quarantined area of the chip where private computation can happen." To break it? You'd have to physically raid a data center, rip the chip out, and examine it with advanced tools. That's a radically different security model than just trusting a CEO not to peek.
