The market isn't a collection of random candles; it's a never-ending search for Fair Value through a dual-sided auction. It only has two states: It is either accepting a price or searching for a new one. Balance (The Range): Buyers and sellers agree on the price. This creates a "Value Area" where most trading volume occurs. The market moves horizontally because "Fair Value" has been found. Imbalance (The Trend): One side (buyers or sellers) becomes more aggressive. The auction becomes "unfair," and the market moves vertically (breaks out) to find a new price where both sides are willing to trade again. How the Market Actually Moves: Passive vs. Aggressive Price movement isn't random; it's a mechanical battle in the Order Book between two types of traders: 1. The Passive Traders (The Walls) These traders use Limit Orders. They sit and wait at a specific price, providing the "Liquidity" the market needs to function. They act as a brake—when price hits a massive wall of limit orders, it stops. We call this Absorption. 2. The Aggressive Traders (The Engine) These traders use Market Orders. They don't wait; they want in NOW at any price. They are the true engine of the auction. Price ONLY moves when these aggressive traders "consume" every single limit order at a specific level and force the market to find a new seller higher or a new buyer lower. Price trends when Aggression > Liquidity. Price reverses when Liquidity (Absorption) > Aggression.
