A great post by @jimmysong. He’s diagnosing something real: Monopoly → bad incentives Two sides → tribalism Users → no meaningful voice 👉 So the proposed solution: More implementations → let the market decide. That’s a serious argument. ⚠️ But here’s the gap: This assumes: Choice → resolves legitimacy But what if… Choice without definition → multiplies ambiguity? More implementations don’t resolve disagreement. They scale it. Because now each implementation has different goals, different policies, different views of Bitcoin, and there is no explicit, shared definition to resolve those differences. So what happens? Choice doesn’t create consensus. It creates competing interpretations. Now the stack looks like this: Users pick software Software defines rules Rules define “Bitcoin” But no one can finalize it. So instead of:👉 one Bitcoin We get:👉 multiple believable Bitcoins That’s not a market resolving truth. That’s a market discovering disagreement. More implementations don’t fix legitimacy. They amplify the need for it. Until there is a clear boundary: Choice = fragmentation Not consensus. That’s the real gap. Prove me wrong. PS: Others are building implementations. My only job is simpler:👉 Define Bitcoin first. Call it a Genesis Act. Call it a constitutional moment. Without that… everything else floats. https://t.co/Fo5p1YtM72 @giacomozucco @LawrenceLepard @Handre @MajorianBTC @elkrun21 @_BitcoinCapital
