White House Crypto Chief: Efforts to Develop a Bitcoin Strategic Reserve Are Ongoing Patrick Witt, the White House's crypto director, stated that the U.S. government's efforts to establish a strategic Bitcoin reserve are still ongoing, though interagency coordination is facing challenges, and some obscure and complex legal provisions are imposing limitations. Currently, multiple government agencies, including the U.S. Department of Justice and the Office of Legal Counsel, are discussing the legal and regulatory issues related to the creation of a strategic Bitcoin reserve. This initiative remains on the priority list. Additionally, the White House announced yesterday that the U.S. government has not sold the Bitcoin seized from the Samourai Wallet developers. These bitcoins will remain on the government's balance sheet as part of the strategic Bitcoin reserve.
