Looking at what’s been said about @bonk_inu over the past few days, I think there’s an important detail about what happened that’s being overlooked. There’s no question that this was a serious governance failure, and the community has every right to demand stronger controls. But the attack targeted the BonkDAO treasury; the $BONK token contract wasn’t compromised, and user wallets weren’t affected. And the BONK ecosystem is much bigger than a single DAO treasury. BONKTrade has processed over $1B in volume in 2026 alone and BONKbot continues to record over $1M in daily activity. One governance failure doesn’t make what happened any less serious, but it also doesn’t erase the ecosystem BONK has spent years building overnight. It’s simply inaccurate to treat a security incident involving the DAO treasury as if the entire BONK ecosystem was hacked. These are two completely different things. If we’re going to criticize something, let’s at least criticize the right thing.
