🚀 UBS estimates the global space economy could reach $1.3 trillion by 2040, implying ~7% annual growth, driven by lower launch costs, expanding satellite services, and rising defense spending. In a more optimistic scenario where technology advances on schedule, the market could approach $2 trillion, although UBS discounted that outlook to reflect execution risks. The Satellite Industry Association valued the global space economy at $429 billion in 2025, with commercial satellites generating $303 billion (71%). Ground equipment accounted for $165.2 billion, satellite services $105 billion, and consumer applications such as satellite TV, radio, and broadband contributed $80.2 billion. UBS expects launch costs to fall below $250/kg by 2040, versus roughly $1,500–2,000/kg today, making satellite communications, Earth observation, space logistics, and other space-enabled services significantly more profitable. Most future value is expected to come from recurring services rather than launch providers themselves. Defense spending is also accelerating, with the proposed U.S. Space Force budget rising 30% to $49.6 billion for FY2027, while Germany plans to invest €35 billion in space assets by 2030 and NATO members continue increasing security spending. UBS highlighted companies such as L3Harris Technologies Inc. $LHX, AST SpaceMobile Inc. $ASTS , Rocket Lab USA Inc. $RKLB, Redwire Corp. $RDW, and Planet Labs PBC $PL as participants in the growing space ecosystem, while noting risks including launch failures, project delays, regulatory uncertainty, and funding needs. 🌌📡 #SpaceEconomy #SpaceTech #Investing
