APTOS FOUNDATION VOTES TO "END" INFINITE INFLATION MECHANISM #The Aptos Foundation is proposing AIP-140, aiming for a major overhaul of the $APT token’s mechanics to ensure long-term sustainability. 🎁 Beyond capping the maximum supply at 2.1 billion APT, what else will significantly impact APT? ✔️ Currently, approximately 1.196 billion APT are in circulation, with around 904 million still to be gradually released. If approved, once the 2.1 billion cap is reached, no new tokens will be minted → supply becomes permanently fixed, creating clear scarcity. ✔️ Slash staking rewards dramatically: from the current ~5.19% down to just 2.6% → reducing inflation; validators will rely primarily on transaction fees rather than newly issued rewards. ✔️ Permanently lock 210 million $APT held by the Foundation (equivalent to roughly $180 million, depending on market price) → these tokens will never be sold or distributed again, immediately reducing actual supply. ✔️ Increase gas fees by 10x, with 100% of fees burned → establish a deflationary mechanism where more network activity leads to more APT being burned. 🎊 Voting is currently live: 100% in favor (Yes with 21.6K APT), no opposing votes, but participation remains low (only about one day passed). Approximately two and a half days remain. Typically, approval requires over 70% Yes votes and sufficient participation. Once $APT combines usage-based fee burning + token locking + a fixed supply cap — will this help make APT great again, everyone?
