Anthony Ray Hinton spent nearly 30 years on Alabama death row for two murders he didn’t commit. The case hinged on a claim that bullets matched his mother’s old revolver. Later testing by multiple experts, including from the FBI, showed they didn’t match. He had an alibi. No other physical evidence linked him. An all white jury convicted him quickly. He was released in 2015 after the Supreme Court ordered a new trial and the state dropped the charges. No apology. What stays with me is how ordinary the failure was. Flawed forensics, an underfunded defense, and courts that sat on re testable evidence for decades. He lived 30 feet from the electric chair, watched others die, and lost his mother while inside, all for a case that could have been corrected far earlier with a proper look at the bullets. Justice is still slow, expensive, and error prone, and it works best for those who can afford to keep fighting. As AI agents start making millions of deals at machine speed, that system isn’t built for it. Disputes will need faster, cheaper, more reliable resolution. That’s why justice needs an upgrade for the agentic era. @GenLayer #JusticeNeedsAnUpgrade
