Derived from Forklog, on-chain researcher ZachXBT has identified a Canadian threat actor, Haby (Havard), who stole over $2 million through Coinbase support impersonation scams. The scammer used social engineering tactics to defraud victims, spending the stolen funds on rare social media usernames, bottle service, and gambling. ZachXBT traced the scammer’s activities through wallet addresses and social media posts, revealing multiple thefts from Coinbase users. The suspect, based in Abbotsford, Canada, has also been linked to false police reports. In August, another victim lost 783 BTC (~$91 million at the time) in a similar social engineering attack.
