As per Cryptonews, on-chain analyst Willy Woo has issued a guide urging Bitcoin holders to migrate coins from Taproot addresses to older formats, citing potential risks from quantum computing. Taproot addresses (bc1p) expose public keys, which could be compromised by quantum computers in the future. Woo recommends using SegWit (bc1q) or legacy addresses (1 or 3) to conceal public keys temporarily. However, the Bitcoin community remains divided on the urgency and effectiveness of such migration strategies. Former Bitcoin Core developer Jonas Schnelli noted that while older address types offer more time before key exposure, they are not 'quantum safe.' Anakun from Open BTC highlighted BIP-360, a proposed quantum-resistant upgrade, while Capital Markets analyst Charles Edwards criticized Woo's approach as impractical. Michael Saylor dismissed quantum threats as exaggerated, estimating the risk to be 10–20 years away.
