Odaily Planet Daily reports: Vitalik posted on X stating that the related content represents only his personal views; the Ethereum Foundation board is not composed of him alone, and he does not possess any special powers beyond those of other board members. Aya Miyaguchi is leading the majority of the execution for this transition, while he himself is more involved in technical issues. The board is currently expanding, and his influence within the organization will continue to decline in the future. Vitalik noted that the Ethereum Foundation has made several improvements in execution capability in 2025, but he has recently been more focused on criticisms regarding perceived deviations from the Foundation’s values. He emphasized that the Ethereum Foundation should not become the center of Ethereum, but rather one node among many, with clearly defined responsibilities. Currently, the Ethereum Foundation holds only about 0.16% of all ETH—less than many large ETH holders—whereas the central foundations of many other blockchain projects typically control 10% to 50% of their tokens. The Ethereum Foundation will use its remaining resources to pursue long-term sustainability rather than continuous expansion, which also means selling less ETH. It will focus exclusively on tasks critical to making Ethereum a censorship-resistant, anti-control, open, private, and secure system—tasks that no one else would undertake if the Foundation did not. Vitalik stated that this means the Foundation must make difficult choices, and some previously supported projects and respected individuals may no longer be part of the Foundation’s ecosystem in the future.

Vitalik Buterin said the Ethereum Foundation should not dominate the ETH ecosystem but remain one of many nodes. He noted that the foundation owns only 0.16% of ETH, less than major holders, and will focus on long-term goals. Vitalik emphasized that the foundation will support ETH research and prioritize security, openness, and censorship resistance. Some projects may be discontinued despite past support. The ETH price remains under close watch as the foundation adjusts its strategy.
