According to a ChainCatcher report, Vitalik Buterin posted an article stating that he is now "clearly more in favor of native rollups" compared to the past. Vitalik recalled that a key reason for previously opposing native rollups was that their precompiled contracts had to choose between ZK mode or Optimistic mode, and at that time, ZK-EVM was not yet mature. L2s often opted for the option of "relying on Ethereum's security but requiring 2–7 days for withdrawals" over "fast withdrawals but self-issuing proofs," which weakened Ethereum's composability and led to the popularity of multisig bridges. Vitalik pointed out that the situation is now changing: the timeline for Ethereum L1 to fully adopt ZK is gradually aligning with the practical progress of introducing native rollup precompiles, and the core obstacle mentioned above is expected to be eliminated. He also mentioned that the community is increasingly viewing "synchronous composability" as one of the core values of L2s and is exploring ways to combine rollup-based solutions with low-latency pre-confirmation mechanisms. In addition, Vitalik emphasized that the implementation of native rollup precompiles should not be rushed. He proposed that ideally, if developers build a "EVM plus a few additional features" rollup, they should be able to directly reuse the EVM part of the native rollup precompiles and only introduce a custom proof system for the new features, connecting the two in a standardized way.
Vitalik Buterin Adjusts Position on Native Rollups as ZK Timelines Progress

Vitalik Buterin has recently shown stronger support for native rollups, noting that Ethereum's L1 ZK adoption and precompile progress are now better aligned. On-chain data reveals growing momentum for these solutions, though Buterin warns against rushed precompile designs. As altcoins to watch gain traction, the shift in Buterin's stance could influence broader Layer 2 development strategies. He also highlights the need for rollups to integrate with low-latency pre-confirmations for optimal performance.
