BlockBeats news, on June 21, newly disclosed data showed that foreign holdings of U.S. Treasury securities increased by $3.9 billion in April to $9.35 trillion, reaching the second-highest level on record.
Japan, the largest foreign holder of U.S. Treasuries, increased its holdings by $18.3 billion to $1.21 trillion, the highest level since February;
As the second-largest holder, the UK increased its holdings by $10.6 billion to a record $937.5 billion;
As the third-largest holder, China reduced its holdings by $1.2 billion to $651.1 billion, the lowest level since September 2008;
Meanwhile, Canada, the seventh-largest foreign holder, reduced its holdings by $42.3 billion to $397.1 billion, the lowest level since January.
The U.S. Treasury market is growing but remains fragmented.
