As reported by The Shib Daily, Michael Selig, President Donald Trump’s nominee for chair of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), is set to face a confirmation hearing before the U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee on November 19. The hearing coincides with the anticipated end of the U.S. government shutdown. In late October, White House crypto advisor David Sacks praised Selig’s nomination, highlighting his financial market expertise and focus on updating U.S. regulations for the digital asset sector. Selig’s nomination follows the withdrawal of Brian Quintenz’s bid to lead the CFTC, which had initially shown strong prospects. Caroline Pham, the acting CFTC chair, is expected to leave once a new chair is confirmed. The agency is likely to undergo substantial regulatory changes for digital assets in the coming months, as lawmakers consider a new market structure bill aimed at clarifying the roles of the CFTC and SEC in overseeing digital assets.
