According to ME News, on July 21 (UTC+8), a16z stated that the market capitalization of tokenized stocks reached approximately $1.7 billion by the end of June, more than five times the $329 million recorded a year earlier, making it one of the fastest-growing categories among tokenized assets. Unlike stablecoins, the market capitalization of tokenized stocks is influenced by both new issuances and price fluctuations of the underlying assets; however, data shows that growth has been driven primarily by expansion in issuance volume, with over half of the market cap coming from assets that were not yet tokenized a year ago, and most of the new balances accumulated around mid-year, after most of the price movements in the underlying stocks had already occurred.
