The Sandbox co-founder Sebastien Borget announced at EthCC that the mobile game The Sandbox NEXT has entered its first stress test as of March 26. Built with Unreal Engine, the 20-player battle royale game features ‘desert’ and ‘city’ maps with auto-aim and shooting mechanics. Players can transfer NFT assets and progress from the main platform to the mobile version. The game supports real-world assets (RWA) by enabling cross-platform use of on-chain news and NFTs. Sebastien also noted that NEXT will integrate with SANDchain, a ZKsync-based Layer 2 launching in September 2025, to enable low-cost mobile transactions for asset minting and trading.

ChainThink reports that, according to disclosures at the EthCC[9] conference, Sebastien Borget, co-founder and COO of The Sandbox, announced that the first round of stress testing for the mobile-native game The Sandbox NEXT officially began on March 26.

The game has abandoned the Unity engine previously used on the main platform and is now being developed with Unreal Engine to deliver higher visual fidelity and improved physics performance on mobile devices. NEXT is a multiplayer battle royale game supporting up to 20 players in a single match, with optimized auto-aim and shooting mechanics tailored for mobile. The launch includes two maps: “Desert” and “City.” Players can directly transfer their identity, game progress, and NFT assets from The Sandbox’s main platform to the mobile version.

Sebastien Borget also noted that NEXT will complement SANDchain, a ZKsync-based Layer 2 network launching in September 2025, with its low-cost transactions supporting asset minting and marketplace trading needs for mobile users.
