Tether announced on February 21, 2026, that it will cease support for CNHT, its offshore RMB stablecoin. New CNHT issuance will end immediately, with redemption support closing one year later. The decision follows low usage and changing market conditions. Users are encouraged to redeem their holdings before the deadline. On-chain data shows increasing activity around new token listings as traders adapt to the change.

BlockBeats news: On February 21, Tether officially announced that, to ensure its product offerings align with actual usage, long-term sustainability, and community needs, it has decided to discontinue support for CNHT (offshore RMB stablecoin). This transition will be carried out in two phases:

· Effective immediately: Cease all new CNHT issuances. · After one year: Cease CNHT redemption support (users will be notified separately prior to the redemption cutoff date).

Tether stated that the decision was based on changing market conditions, low product visibility, and limited community demand. “The usage level of CNHT is insufficient to sustain the ongoing operational support required to meet Tether’s product standards.”

Users holding CNHT are encouraged to redeem as soon as possible before the deadline. Tether will continue to focus on stablecoins and infrastructure with strong organic adoption and long-term relevance, including core stablecoin liquidity, tokenization infrastructure, and new financial tools.
