Huo Xing Finance reports, according to a recent poll by POLITICO, despite significant political funding flowing from the AI and cryptocurrency industries into the U.S. midterm elections, the American public as a whole remains notably cautious or even negative toward both sectors. The survey found that 45% of Americans believe “investing in cryptocurrency is not worth the risk,” while 44% of respondents feel the pace of AI development is “too fast.” Nearly half indicated they trust traditional banks more than crypto platforms to safeguard their funds; about two-thirds support strict government regulation of AI or the establishment of unified regulatory principles. The report notes that super PACs supporting AI and cryptocurrency industries are rapidly emerging as major financial forces in the 2026 U.S. midterm elections. The pro-AI organization Leading the Future has raised over $75 million; the crypto PAC Fairshake, backed by Coinbase, Andreessen Horowitz, and Ripple, has already spent approximately $28 million in several key primary races. However, the poll shows voters are more inclined to support candidates advocating for “stronger AI regulation” rather than those pushing for deregulation. U.S. Senator Chris Murphy stated, “People do not trust the cryptocurrency industry, nor do they want AI companies to overpower them culturally and economically.” Moreover, over half of Americans say they have never purchased and would not consider purchasing cryptocurrency; 43% of respondents believe the risks of AI outweigh its benefits.
