Sumsub Report: AI Fraud to Surge in 2026, Multi-Step Attacks Rise 180%

As per Bijiie, Sumsub's 2025-2026 Identity Fraud Report reveals a 180% year-on-year increase in complex multi-step attacks, now accounting for 28% of all fraud cases. AI-driven forgeries have emerged as a new threat, rising from 0% to 2%, while the global identity fraud rate remains stable at 2.2%. Fraud rates in Europe and North America have declined, but Asia-Pacific and the Middle East have seen significant increases of 16.4% and 19.8%, respectively. The report highlights a 'complexity shift' in fraud tactics, with 75% of respondents expecting greater reliance on AI.
