Sui Mainnet Resumes After Two Outages Linked to the Same Software Bug

ChainCatcher report: According to the official Sui Network announcement, the Sui mainnet has resumed normal operations, with transaction processing and network activity fully restored. The official disclosed that both this outage and the previous day’s network downtime were caused by an interaction issue between the “Address Balances” feature and the gas fee logic introduced in version 1.72. The Sui core team stated that yesterday’s fix was a temporary measure designed to quickly restore network functionality, but it carried a known, albeit low-probability, risk of further downtime. Today, a variant of this known issue was triggered, causing the mainnet to pause again. Currently, validators have deployed the long-term fix, and the official confirmed that the underlying vulnerability has been fully resolved, with the network now operating normally. The Sui team plans to release a detailed post-mortem report outlining the root cause of the incident and the resolution process.
