Odaily Planet Daily reports: Tempo, a payment-focused blockchain developed jointly by Stripe and crypto investment firm Paradigm, has announced its mainnet launch, officially moving its stablecoin payment system from testing into live application. Tempo is designed for high throughput and low-cost transactions, aiming to deliver a stablecoin payment experience comparable to debit cards or bank transfers, while offering faster speeds and 24/7 availability. Since its public beta launched in December last year, institutions including Mastercard, UBS, Klarna, and Visa have participated in testing scenarios such as cross-border transfers and batch payments.
This launch also introduces the Machine Payments Protocol, enabling AI agents to automatically complete payments without human intervention, facilitating on-demand settlement for services such as data and computing power, and advancing the development of "Agentic Finance." Tempo also targets traditional use cases like cross-border remittances and large-scale payroll distribution, aiming to reduce intermediary costs and improve efficiency through blockchain and stablecoins.
