Stripe Acquires Crypto Payment Startup Valora to Expand Stablecoin Capabilities

Based on 528btc, Stripe has acquired Valora, a mobile crypto payment app built on an Ethereum Layer 2 network, as the payments giant continues to expand into blockchain and stablecoin technologies. Valora's team will join Stripe, bringing expertise in crypto wallet infrastructure and on-chain development tools. The startup, founded in 2021 by Jackie Bona and backed by Celo's development organization cLabs, had raised $20 million. Stripe has previously acquired a stablecoin infrastructure firm and partnered with Paradigm to develop Tempo, a blockchain designed for stablecoin payments, which is now in testing.
