BlockBeats news, on March 19, according to Bitcoin Treasuries, Strategy has significantly increased its Bitcoin holdings, with its Bitcoin reserve poised to surpass BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT). As of March 19, 2026, Strategy holds 761,068 BTC, valued at approximately $56.2 billion, narrowing the gap with BlackRock’s holding of 782,170 BTC to just 21,102 BTC.
Over the past two weeks, Strategy acquired a total of 40,331 BTC for approximately $2.85 billion, marking the largest consecutive buying spree since January this year and significantly narrowing the gap with BlackRock. At the current pace, Strategy is on track to surpass BlackRock within the next one to two weeks.
In terms of funding sources, this round of purchases was primarily driven by strong demand for STRC preferred shares. STRC raised $1.18 billion for the larger purchase, covering approximately 75% of the cost and enabling the acquisition of about 16,753 BTC, and contributed approximately 30% (about $377 million) toward the previous purchase, supporting the acquisition of roughly 5,313 BTC. Strategy Bitcoin Strategy Manager Chaitanya Jain has described this model as “the most aggressive financial engineering feat to date, expanding the boundaries of Bitcoin capital formation.”
