Ethereum news broke as Standard Chartered Bank forecasts ETH could hit $40,000 by 2030. Geoffrey Kendrick, the bank’s global head of digital asset research, said the ETH-to-BTC ratio may return to 2021 levels. The report noted Ethereum’s price is less impacted by ETF and vault investments than Bitcoin. Developers aim to boost transaction throughput tenfold in two to three years. Ethereum ecosystem news highlights the potential impact of the U.S. Clarity Act passing in Q1 2026. Near-term targets were revised: $7,500 for 2026 and $15,000 for 2027.

According to ChainCatcher, market reports indicate that Standard Chartered Bank, in a research report, predicts that if Bitcoin underperforms expectations, Ethereum will have the opportunity to surpass Bitcoin and reach $40,000 by 2030. Geoffrey Kendrick, Global Head of Digital Asset Research at Standard Chartered, said, "2026 will be the year of Ethereum, just as 2021 was. The improved outlook for Ethereum relative to Bitcoin suggests that the price ratio between the two assets could return to the highs seen in 2021." The bank noted that Ethereum's price performance is less affected by investment through ETFs and digital asset vaults compared to Bitcoin. Nevertheless, despite an overall decline in inflows into crypto ETFs, their positive impact on Ethereum is currently greater than on Bitcoin. Additionally, Ethereum developers are working to increase the transaction throughput of the Ethereum blockchain by ten times within the next two to three years, which, if successful, would provide a significant boost to Ethereum. Finally, the passage of the U.S. Clarity Act will also benefit Ethereum and its large on-chain ecosystem. Standard Chartered expects the Clarity Act to be passed in the first quarter of 2026. The report reaffirmed its price prediction for Bitcoin, forecasting a price of $500,000 by 2030, while it has lowered its near-term price targets for Ethereum, reducing the 2026 target from $12,000 to $7,500 and the 2027 target from $18,000 to $15,000.
