As per TechFlow, on November 25, 2025, Spanish bank Renta 4 Banco received a MiCA license from the Spanish National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), becoming the fourth bank in the country authorized to legally buy, sell, and custody crypto assets. The license allows Renta 4 to offer institutional custody, order reception, and transfer services, as well as digital asset transfer services for all clients, including Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). Previously, BBVA obtained the license in March 2025 and launched BTC and ETH trading services, while Cecabank and Openbank (Santander's digital bank) received authorization in July 2025. Additionally, Spain has granted MiCA European Passports to German Commerzbank, French CACEIS, and Société Générale to operate crypto services locally.
