As reported by Bijiie, the team behind Shibarium, the Layer-2 network of Shiba Inu, has launched a major network upgrade following a security incident in September that temporarily halted operations. The update decentralizes core infrastructure by routing traffic through multiple independent nodes instead of a single centralized channel. The change, which requires public RPC endpoints to be offline for two weeks, aims to eliminate single points of failure and enhance resilience. The upgrade is part of a broader cultural shift within the Shiba Inu ecosystem, prioritizing decentralization, transparency, and user verification. Additional measures include blacklisting validators and implementing a seven-day withdrawal delay on the Plasma Bridge. Despite the setback, Shibarium has seen a surge in usage, with over 30,000 nodes, 272 million unique wallets, and 15.4 billion transactions recorded. Governance token BONE remains active, with over 4.69 million transfers. The Shiba Inu team aims to position Shibarium as one of the most decentralized Layer-2 environments in the industry.
