Odaily Planet Daily reports that seven major Bitcoin mining pools—AntPool, Foundry, F2Pool, SpiderPool, DMND, MARA Foundation, and Block Inc.—have joined the Stratum V2 Working Group to collaboratively develop an open, industry-standard mining pool communication protocol.
Public data shows that Foundry currently controls approximately 30% of global Bitcoin mining pool hash rate, while AntPool accounts for about 17.7%. Stratum V2 states that establishing an open standard not controlled by a single mining pool can enhance miners' flexibility in choosing block templates and help address the growing centralization in the current Bitcoin mining industry.
Additionally, CoinWarz expects Bitcoin’s mining difficulty to increase again in mid-May, while CoinShares notes that approximately 20% of miners are already unprofitable under current market and energy cost conditions. (Cointelegraph)
