As reported by HashNews, Jamie Selway, Director of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Trading and Markets, stated at the SIFMA Market Structure Conference that while crypto assets are built on decentralized, 'trustless' mechanisms, healthy trading still relies on 'trust-based' market structures. Selway noted that the SEC will use 'Project Crypto' to establish clear regulatory rules, support competition and innovation, and prevent regulatory distortions of fair market competition. He emphasized that policymakers should treat participants in both new and existing markets fairly, with the market itself as the ultimate judge of value.
