As per MetaEra, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has seen a 30% decline in enforcement actions during the 2025 fiscal year under Chair Paul Atkins, compared to the previous year under Gary Gensler. The report from consulting firm Cornerstone Research noted a significant reduction in cases involving publicly traded companies and their subsidiaries. The SEC has also withdrawn several investigations and lawsuits against cryptocurrency firms, including a case against Coinbase in February. The agency’s 2026 fiscal year inspection priorities did not mention digital assets. Meanwhile, a comprehensive digital asset market structure bill is pending in the Senate, with potential regulatory shifts expected.
