CoinDesk reports that on April 22, Anysphere, the developer of AI programming startup Cursor, completed a $400,000 Pre-Seed round in April 2022, with joint investments from Alameda Research and Heroic Ventures. Alameda invested $200,000 in Anysphere, acquiring approximately 5% equity. FTX’s bankruptcy filings reveal that in April 2023, the FTX bankruptcy estate sold the shares held by Alameda Research’s entity in Anysphere for $200,000. Today, SpaceX announced a partnership with Cursor to jointly develop the next generation of AI for coding and knowledge work. The specific terms grant SpaceX an option to acquire Cursor for $60 billion later this year; if SpaceX does not exercise the option, it will instead pay $10 billion as a collaboration fee. Cursor is now valued at $60 billion, meaning that, based on the current valuation, the shares previously sold by FTX were worth approximately $3 billion.
