Citing TechFlow, the UK National Crime Agency (NCA) revealed on November 21 that Russian intelligence used a cash-to-crypto money laundering network to fund a spy ring linked to former Wirecard executive Jan Marsalek. The group, composed of six Bulgarian nationals, was convicted of espionage, surveillance of journalists and politicians, and plotting assassinations. UK police said the network posed a serious threat before being dismantled. The NCA had closed two Russian money laundering networks a year earlier, which had moved billions globally. One of these networks attempted to fund the spy group.
