CoinDesk reports:

Roblox has announced the launch of a new feature called Build, which allows users to generate basic games directly on their mobile devices using text prompts. The company states that this tool is designed for users without programming experience and enables further editing and sharing of creations.

Build is powered by multiple AI models, covering gameplay mechanics, scenarios, characters, visual styles, and audio. Roblox also stated that it will continue to roll out AI agents over the coming months to assist with creation, testing, and data analysis.

Start by opening it on the mobile app.

Build will first enter public alpha testing on July 28. The initial group of eligible users will be those in New Zealand aged 9 and above who have completed age verification. Users aged 16 and above will later be able to publish their creations to users worldwide.

The platform is concerned about an increase in low-quality content.

Roblox's introduction of AI creation tools has also raised concerns among developers about content quality. Outsiders worry that text-generated games will lead to a faster influx of low-quality, repetitive content on the platform, intensifying competition among creators.

The company responded that the platform's recommendation system prioritizes content with higher retention. If a game has no players, it will not receive greater exposure. Roblox also noted that Build offers both a free basic version and paid options.

Roblox continues to invest in AI

This feature is part of Roblox’s ongoing investment in AI. The company has previously launched foundational models for generating 3D game assets and an AI chat tool to assist developers. Roblox is also developing a new scene generation model capable of creating editable, playable 3D scenes from a single text prompt.
